Tottenham Hotspur do not want to take any chances with Rodrigo Bentancur
According to the Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur do not expect Rodrigo Bentancur to be back anytime before his November estimate as they do not want to take any chances with the Uruguayan.
Bentancur has been out since February of this year after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury. It has always been expected that he will be back by November.
Prior to his injury, the former Juventus midfielder was widely expected to the club’s leader in midfield. He was one of the silver linings in what was a very poor campaign for Tottenham last season.
Bentancur has been very impressive for the North London club ever since making the move to the N17. He was signed in January of 2021 by then sporting director Fabio Paratici and what an acquisition he has been.
Tottenham are very eager to have Bentancur back in the middle of the park and it has been claimed that the player himself is even more keen on making this happen. He is apparently been pushing himself in training.
However, sanity needs to prevail in such situations and it looks like the club have decided that they will not be rushing the Uruguayan back into action before he completely recovers from his current issue.
The prospect of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma playing in Tottenham’s midfield along with James Maddison is very enticing. However, no shortcuts must be taken with the 26-year-old and we must wait for him patiently.
Thanks to the impressive levels shown by Pape Matar Sarr and to an extent, Oliver Skipp, Tottenham are not really in any desperation to have Bentancur back. He can completely heal his injury and then return to playing.
