Fabio Paratici tried to sign Guglielmo Vicario for Tottenham in previous transfer windows
Pierluigi Gollini, Cristian Romero, Pape Matar Sarr, Emerson Royal, Bryan Gil, Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Destiny Udogie, Djed Spence, Clement Lenglet, Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Pedro Porro and Arnaut Danjuma all have something in common – they are all either loan or permanent signings that Fabio Paratici made for Tottenham Hotspur.
One glance at the list above would clearly tell you that there are more hits than misses in that list. So when anyone asks if Fabio Paratici did a good job at the N17, there can only be one answer – the proof is in the pudding!
Things are moving so fast at Tottenham Hotspur that we seem to have forgotten that Fabio Paratici being at the club as our sporting director feels like it happened ages ago.
Paratici worked hand in hand with Antonio Conte but remained at the club even after the former Chelsea coach was let go. However, due to an unforeseen ban, he had to leave his role soon after.
Even after he has left the club, some of his signings have come good for the club like Sarr, Bissouma and Udogie. It shows how forward-thinking the Italian was and how well he has set us up for the future.
One other player who was not a Paratici signing but has won over the N17 faithful is goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario who signed from Empoli this summer. The Athletic now reveal that he was a player whom the Italian sporting director wanted to sign as well.
Paratici tried to sign Vicario in the previous transfer windows but a transfer never materialised. This could have been down to the presence of Hugo Lloris whose position seems impenetrable at that time.
Things have changed drastically though. Lloris is nowhere close to the first-team picture and Vicario has now made a sensational start to life in North London. While we cannot add him to an official Paratici signing, the Italian identified his potential long before we saw it.
