Barcelona target Giovani Lo Celso is unlikely to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the 2024 January transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur star Giovani Lo Celso has struggled largely to impress during his stint at the N-17 but continues to draw attention from elsewhere including defending Spanish champions Barcelona.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a fine pre-season under new boss Ange Postecoglou but is far from a first-team regular since the 2023/24 campaign kicked off. He is currently out injured and has only made a handful of appearances for the first team this season.
Much was expected of the Argentine when he arrived at the club from Real Betis but his return has left much to be desired. Lo Celso was linked heavily with a summer transfer but a deal failed to materialise.
Barcelona were keen on the player in the summer transfer window and were eyeing him after their pursuit of Bernardo Silva got nowhere. Despite missing out, they continue to monitor the Tottenham star ahead of a potential move in the 2024 January transfer window.
However, now according to SPORT, the Blaugrana will have to look elsewhere. This is because Lo Celso does not appear keen to leave North London anytime soon and could see out the current campaign in white.
Xavi Hernandez remains a huge fan but Lo Celso continues to be shown faith by Postecoglou, something that was lacking under former managers. It will take a phenomenal financial offer for Barcelona to prise the player away, something unfeasible given their current condition.
The Barcelona management have already decided to look at other feasible targets, ones that are easier to attain than Lo Celso. As things stand, the 27-year-old’s tryst with the N-17 is set to continue.
