Gary Neville admits to being blown away by Tottenham Hotspur this season

Manchester United legend Gary Neville is known for his usually strong opinions and has now given his thoughts on Tottenham Hotspur’s strong start to the 2023-24 season.

Ange Postecoglou’s men might have exited the Carabao Cup early but have been impeccable in the league. Spurs are currently unbeaten after the first eight games and occupy the top spot heading into the October international break.

While there is still much work left to be done, Tottenham have every reason to be optimistic about their chances. And it would appear that several neutrals are also coming around given the results on the field.

Neville usually is very partial to Manchester United given his previous allegiance. But even he cannot discount the progress being shown by Ange Postecoglou’s charges at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast via Sky Sports, the Premier League veteran admitted that Tottenham, have exceeded the expectations he had set in store for them this season.

“Tottenham and Liverpool are better than I thought.”

While Tottenham have gotten off to a quick start, they are far from being runaway leaders. In fact, Arsenal are only behind us on goal difference while Manchester City and Liverpool are also within striking distance.

The top four finish should be the least of our expectations this season but a surprise run for the title will not be frowned upon at the N-17. After all, it has been 62 years since the trophy last arrived at White Hart Lane.
