Harry Kane happy for Tottenham Hotspur but reveals that full focus in on Bayern Munich
When Harry Kane left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and move to Germany to join Bayern Munich, one could have been forgiven for thinking that this season was a write-off for the North London club.
After all, when you lose the player who has stood out against mediocrity and single-handedly kept Tottenham relevant for so many seasons now, any club is expected to struggle and the Lilywhites were no different.
However, when the going gets tough, the tough get going and boy, haven’t Tottenham got going this season! It almost feels like we have never missed Kane and that we have made a seamless transition to life without the English superstar.
Much of the credit has to go to Australian gaffer Ange Postecoglou. He has taken a Tottenham squad that was down in the dumps morale wise and made them rise and soar like the mythological pheonix.
He has been duly helped by an able star cast with Son Heung-min, James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, Yves Bissouma and Guglielmo Vicario in starring roles. This has helped Tottenham not miss Kane.
Sometimes, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole and every single player has stepped up to share the responsibility that Harry Kane carried out, almost entirely on his own. When the Bundesliga superstar was asked about Tottenham’s start to the season, here is what he had to say, as quoted by the Mirror
“It’s great to see. I think I’ve said before, the manager is doing great for them with the way they’re playing. The fans are right behind the team and it’s definitely what they needed after the last few years. Also, I have to be respectful to Bayern Munich and of course, the fans know I will always have a soft spot for Spurs – there is no question about that – but I have got to put all my attention on Bayern Munich and to make us as successful as possible”
Not even in the wildest of dreams would a Tottenham fan have imagined that they would be sitting atop the Premier League table eight games into the season and the football on display has been scintillating.
That said, what is the most important thing going forward is the fact that the club need to be able to maintain this consistency. It’ll definitely not be easy in a season across 38 games but it is what has to be done.
