Tottenham superstar Cristian Romero makes the EA FC 24 Team of the Week 4

It’s been so many years now, FIFA has now become EA FC and not even a name change can stop the game from absolutely baffling us with some of its ridiculous judgements about a player but one thing they got right was including Tottenham Hotspur superstar Cristian Romero in the Team of the Week 4.

Cuti Romero, as he is known, is one of the best Premier League centre-backs at the moment. In fact, a case can be made for him being one of the top defenders in the world and his performances showcase just that every week.

Romero is good at almost everything he does. He has always been very physical and good defensively. Recently though, he has added the other aspects to his repertoire like passing and driving the ball forward.

Unfortunately though, EA FC being the game that it is, fails to think so, giving Romero 61 passing and 73 pace. The former especially is absolutely ridiculous considering he has improved massively in this aspect of his game.

Cristian Romero had a stellar performance against Luton Town last week, marshalling the defence of a 10-man Tottenham side for the entirety of the second half and hardly giving the opponent a whiff of the goal.

Not for no reason did Lionel Messi label him the best “centre-back” in the world. When one of the GOATs of football makes such a claim about a player, he definitely knows what he is talking about.

For a very long time, the tag of the best centre-back in the Premier League belonged to Virgil van Dijk. Whilst he still is a great player, the Liverpool superstar is not at the same level as he showed before.

Right now, the throne is up for grabs and the likes of Romero, William Saliba and Ruben Dias are the prime candidates. If the Tottenham man continue in a similar vein, it won’t be long before he really makes it his own.

Romero is a special player and Tottenham must be counting their stars for being able to have him at their disposal. Let’s hope he can maintain these levels for a long time to come.
