Cristian Romero happy at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Argentina vs Paraguay

Cristian Romero says he is ‘enjoying the moment’ at Tottenham ahead of Argentina’s clash against Paraguay.

The Argentina centre-back was brought to Tottenham alongside Dejan Kulusevski in the winter of 2022 by Antonio Conte. And what a signing he has proven to be.

The defender is a pinned starter for us and the Argentina national team, with whom he won the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Spurs are slowly matching their ambitions on the pitch.

We go into the October international break top of the tree with 20 points from eight games so far. Romero and Micky van de Ven’s partnership at the back has played a huge role in making Spurs one of only two Premier League teams who are unbeaten this season.

Romero enjoying the moment at Spurs

Lionel Scaloni definitely loves Romero and plays him in every major game. That is why he is expected to start again for them when they face Paraguay on October 13 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup CONMEBOL qualifiers.

Speaking ahead of the match, Romero said that he was enjoying his time at Tottenham. He said (h/t @gastonedul on X):

“I’m really enjoying the moment at Tottenham.”

It is important for Tottenham to keep their best players fit. Romero is definitely a part of that list which also includes Son Heung-min, James Maddison, and arguably Van de Ven.

Let us hope he comes back from international duty unscathed. Argentina have won both their qualifying games so far and trail Brazil in the group only on goal difference.

Hopefully, a win against Paraguay nudges Scaloni in the direction of giving Romero (25) some sort of a breather when their team travel to Lima to face Peru five days later.
