Tottenham Hotspur star Micky van de Ven makes senior international debut in 2-1 loss vs France
One of the poster boys of Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur, Micky van de Ven continues hitting new heights week after week and has now made his international debut for Netherlands in their 2-1 loss to France.
Van de Ven has taken the Premier League by storm with his performances over the past few months. The former Bundesliga defender hasn’t really needed a period of adaptation with the way he has gone about things.
Tottenham knew they were signing a very talented player when they bought him back in the summer but few would have envisioned the start he has had in his short Spurs career so far, forming a formidable partnership with Cristian Romero.
What has impressed us all about Van de Ven is his composure in leading a backline in a league that is completely new to him. He has made quite an impression and understandably, the Netherlands call-up was only a formality.
Ronald Koeman handed him his first cap in the game against France which to be fair is not the ideal game one wants to make his debut in. However, when the going gets tough, the tough will get going.
Micky van de Ven replaced Manchester City star Nathan Ake for the last ten minutes of the game but failed to see a win in his first outing for the national team. No doubt that he will see much more success with the Oranje in the future.
At 22, Van de Ven has a huge future in the game. He is just getting started and the sky is the limit for him. He has what it takes to become one of the best centre-backs in the league in the near future.
Cristian Romero is a very talented defender and pairing him with Van de Ven could give Tottenham one of the most promising central defence partnerships in the world. Spurs fans could not be more excited.
