Tottenham star Ben Davies reflects on Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich transfer
Tottenham Hotspur sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer for a fee of around £120million with add-ons.
Despite his age and contract running out within a year, the fee we got for Kane reflected his importance and ability. He is, after all, our club’s top scorer of all time.
Some (or many) would say he is our greatest-ever player. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that his teammates were also sad to see the back of the English superstar when Bayern came calling.
The Bavarian giants seem to well and truly have their Robert Lewandowski replacement as the 30-year-old seems to be firing on all cylinders there. Davies, meanwhile, is part of a Spurs team aren’t doing too bad either.
Davies praises Harry Kane
Going into the international break in October, we were top of the tree after eight Premier League games. We can retain that position with just a draw tomorrow against Fulham, thanks to Arsenal drawing 2-2 against Chelsea.
In a recent interview on TNT Sports, Davies was asked to name his favourite Tottenham teammates, to which he replied:
“I would say Harry Kane as well. It was sad to see him go after all this time but he was an incredible player and I was lucky to play with him.”
Davies joined us from Swansea City in 2014 and has been a loyal and useful servant to the club. His stint as a left-sided centre-back under Antonio Conte can’t be forgotten.
The 30-year-old Welshman played more games alongside Kane than any other player in his career. In fact, 262 of his 316 Tottenham appearances came with the current Bayern Munich star on the pitch, which is astonishing, to say the least.
