Fernando Llorente urges Juventus to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked so much to Juventus in recent weeks that someone who is just starting to watch the game might confuse the Dane for being a Juve player and not a Tottenham Hotspur player.
Hojbjerg has been one of the club’s most consistent performers in recent seasons but hasn’t really been a prominent figure ever since Ange Postecoglou became the manager of Tottenham.
The Australian tactician seems to prefer Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr ahead of him. Whilst Rodrigo Bentancur is yet to feature due to an injury, he also seems to be ahead of the Dane in the pecking order.
The situation must not be misread here, Hojbjerg is an excellent player. Just because he doesn’t feature much under Postecoglou, his credentials as a midfielder have not diminished one bit.
Even as a Tottenham fan, it is easy to understand why Juventus are looking to sign Pierre-Emile Hojberg. The Dane would perfectly fit the kind of system that is deployed at the Serie A club and he would be a great player for them.
Speaking in an interview as quoted by Football-Italia.net, former Tottenham and Juventus striker Fernando Llorente has backed the Dane to succeed at the Italian club
“I faced him [Højbjerg] in the Premier League. He is a leader, a captain and is what Juventus need to start a new successful era”
In the absence of Bissouma through suspension, the Dane is likely to be the one to fill in the upcoming Tottenham game. However, once the Mali international returns, Hojbjerg might be forced to warm the benches again.
The Dane is a leader on the field and plays with a lot of passion. He wore the Tottenham badge on his sleeve during a period when we had one of our worst times as a club and his dedication is always top-notch.
