Bayern Munich planning to raid Tottenham Hotspur for Eric Dier
The last time Bayern Munich came shopping from the Tottenham Hotspur squad, they signed Harry Kane, and it looks like they are going to revisit to try and snap up Eric Dier in January.
When Bayern bought Kane from us, we’d be lying if we said we didn’t think it would affect us big time. However, Tottenham led by an astute Ange Postecoglou have started the season showing no signs of a hangover from this transfer.
Major credit must be given to captain Son Heung-min and vice-captain James Maddison in this regard. The duo have combined to devastating effect and ensured that the North London club don’t miss their talisman.
That brings us to the next name on Bayern’s shopping list. He is not a name that we are going to be too afraid to lose nor is he a name who is irreplaceable to the squad, as we assumed when Kane left us in the summer.
According to Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast (h/t Daily Mail), the German giants are looking to sign Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur. The English defender hasn’t really featured much under Ange Postecoglou.
Unlike previous seasons where he was one of the first names on the team sheet at Tottenham whether he merited it or not, Ange has better options to call upon in defence and he has sidelined the experienced Englishman.
In no realistic world can Dier start ahead of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven and it looks like a January exit is on the cards for the defender. Bayern Munich are looking for a backup defender and they could turn to the Tottenham man.
The German giants are having their own issues with the central defensive areas due to injuries to key players. They are slightly understaffed in that regard and Dier can definitely be a good rotational option.

If Tottenham were to let Dier leave, they might want to sign a central defender before doing so. It might not be such a bad thing if we can get a good young player like Van de Ven. January will hold all the answers to this transfer saga.
