Tottenham Hotspur linked with a move for Manchester United and West Ham target Sebastian Caceres
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are among several keeping tabs on Club America’s Sebastian Caceres, as per Pete O’Rourke (h/t Pasion Aguila).
The 24-year-old isn’t a household name in English football but he is a well-known player on the international stage. He has already made seven appearances for the Uruguayan national team, including their 2-0 win over Brazil in the World Cup qualifiers this month.
In fact, he has played every single minute of their four 2026 World Cup qualifiers games this year, alongside the likes of Liverpool star Darwin Nunez and Barcelona mainstay Ronald Araujo.
Caceres’ contract expires in December 2024 (Transfermarkt), which could make him an attractive prospect for many teams. Hopefully, Club America name a modest price tag that aids Spurs in their bid to sign a new centre-back for depth.
Caceres to Spurs?
Davinson Sanchez has consistently failed to impress under every Spurs manager since his transfer from Ajax and opportunities have been hard to come by under Ange Postecoglou. Eric Dier, meanwhile, has been completely frozen out of Spurs’ starting XI.
West Ham United and Fulham are also said to be interested in the player. The interest of those two particular clubs can be more threatening than Manchester United’s involvement.
That is because the London-based clubs could offer him a more realistic chance at first-team minutes. It isn’t something written in the report, but it does make sense if we think about it.
Manchester United currently have Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane as their two first-choice centre-backs, while Harry Maguire is also fighting for a spot after a run of respectable form.

Spurs, meanwhile, continue to trust Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven and that should not change given their form. If Caceres is open to being our third-choice centre-back, then it would be the perfect scenario. After all, Romero and Van de Ven aren’t immune to fatigue, injuries, and bad form.
