Tottenham told any offer for Liverpool and AC Milan target Lloyd Kelly will be rejected

Lloyd Kelly has recently been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, and Liverpool. It is safe to say that he has come a long way since leaving Bristol City in 2019.

According to TeamTalk (h/t Liverpool.com), however, Bournemouth will apparently reject any offer that comes their way for Kelly. The 25-year-old is clearly one of their star players.

The ball-playing defender can play at left-back as well as centre-back and is clearly entering the prime years of his career. Spurs, Milan, and Liverpool’s interest shows that his stocks are higher than they’ve ever been.

So, let’s see what the viability of such a deal is. Kelly’s current contract expires at the end of the season (Transfermarkt), giving the Cherries very little say in his long-term future.

What next for Kelly and Spurs?

This poses an interesting situation. Kelly’s place in Bournemouth’s team is clearly not up for debate. He has played eight times already this season and captained them in their last two league games.

But if he has bigger ambitions, then surely clubs like Spurs, Liverpool, and AC Milan can fulfill that. With all due respect to Bournemouth, they aren’t at the level of these three clubs.

So, if Kelly doesn’t pen a new deal and wants to switch clubs, then it can really be beneficial for their suitors. It will also put the Cherries in a very dangerous position, where they can lose one of their prized assets for nothing next year.

Kelly is also a homegrown player, which is a huge plus point for Spurs and Liverpool. We particularly need a new centre-back after losing Davinson Sanchez this summer and it seems likely that Eric Dier will leave on a free transfer next year.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven aren’t immune to suspensions or injuries, as they have shown in recent weeks. And for that reason, we need a quality centre-back in January itself, even though there could be the chance to snap him up for nothing in the summer.
