Tottenham Hotspur plan to sign by Liverpool midfield target Andre
Tottenham Hotspur are apparently eyeing a move for Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months.
The 22-year-old recently won the Copa Libertadores with the Brazilian club but could soon be on his way to Europe. According to talkSPORT (h/t Liverpool Echo), Spurs are thinking about selling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at the earliest to fund a move for Andre.
Liverpool’s interest is said to be there but not urgent. Andre is a solid defensive midfielder who is a good passer of the ball and specialises in shielding his team’s backline.
If Ange Postecoglou likes his profile, then Spurs should do everything they can to sign the highly-rated Brazilian midfielder. Hojbjerg not being played enough by Ange shows that the former Celtic manager just doesn’t fancy him.
What next for Andre and Spurs?
We can use a specialist destroyer in our lineup, although Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr have done well when called upon. Rodrigo Bentancur has also returned from injury, but Andre is a natural No. 6.
Moreover, he is very talented. Those who followed Fluminense’s season would know that. Hopefully, we can strike a fair deal to get him here and do it before Liverpool jump on the science.
The Reds’ need for a new No. 6 isn’t a secret. They have used all kinds of options in that position and the one specialist defender they do have in Wataru Endo hasn’t played enough under Jurgen Klopp.
Hojbjerg, 28, is linked with Juventus. Let’s hope we can get a good fee for him, because the Denmark international is still in his peak years and has proven that he can play in one of the toughest, most competitive leagues around.
