Trevoh Chalobah could still move to Tottenham as per Dean Jones
Contrary to previous claims of Tottenham cooling their interest in the Chelsea defender, new reports claim that a move to Hotspur Way could still remain on the cards for 24-year-old centre-back Trevoh Chalobah.
It is very evident that Spurs would look to add to their defensive ranks and reinforce their backline come the January transfer window. In the face of multiple injury issues and suspensions, Spurs’ winning streak ceased to exist and we are staring down a fourth consecutive league defeat when Ange’s side face Manchester City this weekend if the manager continues to take the high-line risk once again.
Our current centre-back options, who clearly lack in pace, do not seem the right fit when it comes to playing a high defensive line. This is why we saw right-back Emerson Royal find himself in the heart of the defence alongside Ben Davies against Aston Villa.
To tackle these issues, Spurs can still make a move for Chalobah. Contrary to a report from Sky Sports, Dean Jones believes that Ange Postecoglou could still make a move for the Cobham graduate after having him on the radar throughout the summer and here is what he exclusively told GiveMeSport:
“I still think Tottenham is definitely a potential destination for him. Tottenham were serious about him in the summer, and we’ve seen that they do need to bulk up their squad.”
Chalobah to the Lilywhites?
The need to bolster the squad, especially in defence, has become apparent for Spurs, and Chalobah’s potential arrival could provide a solution to their defensive woes.
Jones emphasised Tottenham’s earnest pursuit of the player, indicating that the club recognizes the importance of strengthening the squad, particularly in the centre-back position.
As January approaches, the transfer window provides an opportunity for Spurs to address their defensive shortcomings. Chalobah’s versatility and defensive prowess could make him a valuable addition to Tottenham’s ranks, offering the needed depth and quality to navigate the challenges that lie ahead in the league.
