Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro continues to keep pace with Trent Alexander-Arnold
It has been a poor November for Tottenham Hotspur but one player who continues to shine through is young defender Pedro Porro.
The 24-year-old has been a revelation since arriving in North London and has taken his game to the next level under Ange Postecoglou. Since debuting in February, the Spanish international has been an overwhelming force at both ends of the pitch.
A right-back, he is also capable of playing further up the field. A solid crosser and passer of the ball, Porro is a force to be reckoned with going forward. Modern-day full-backs have been game-changers for successful clubs and now Tottenham have found their best player in the role since arguably Kieran Trippier.

There is little argument that Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is the most dynamic right-back in world football today. As witnessed recently, the young Englishman put in a match-winning performance against Fulham while also doing a solid job in the Reds’ victory over Sheffield United.
But it would appear that Porro’s numbers are going under the radar. According to OptaJoe via X, the Spurs star has amassed an impressive 10-goal contributions in the Premier League since his debut in the competition 10 months ago.
He has scored thrice for Tottenham while making seven assists in the top flight. Five of the latter have come this season. Spurs have failed to win their last five Premier League games but Porro remains one of the few players to come away with any credit.
In fact, the Spaniard has assisted three goals in his last four league games. He also provided the cross for Cristian Romero’s opener against West Ham United midweek. Despite our recent inability to put matches away, there are players stepping up and making themselves counted.

In the same timeframe, Trent Alexander-Arnold has 13 goal contributions. Given that Porro is yet to complete even a year in England, it is mighty impressive that he is keeping up with the nation’s go-to man in the position. As long as players continue to shine, there is every reason to believe that the future remains bright for Tottenham, irrespective of blips along the way.
