£42.5m South American superstar thanks Postecoglou-led team Tottenham Hotspur for helping him become a regular for his national team
Postecoglou will be happy to hear his star defender Cristian Romero and his words of appreciation for Tottenham Hotspur. Cristian Romero was signed back in 2021. What was initially a loan deal was then converted into a permanent one for a stunning £42.5m.
Hailed as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, Romero’s own talent would’ve been enough to make the Argentina National team. However, the South American believes it was the Spurs that ultimately helped him become a regular for Argentina.
While it is true that Tottenham Hotspur have provided Cristian Romero with a platform that helps him reach around the world. It can also be said that the 25-year-old is a world-class talent who just needed the right surroundings to flourish
The £42.5m man had only words of gratitude when talking about both club and country. Let’s have a look at what he had to say. (h/t SWM)
“If I were a person who only thought about money, I would have made different decisions, but my thoughts were always about playing for Argentina.”
“That’s why I had to play in the Premier League, and to do that with Tottenham Hotspur, one of the most important clubs in the game, has been incredible. I am grateful to the club and its supporters for the trust they have shown me and I will always try to repay that on the field.
A match made in Heaven?
Just like Romero appreciates Tottenham, the club also only has love for the player. The Argentinian plays an integral part in the club as he acts like an anchor for the entire defensive line.
Now, after over two years at the club, Romero is yet to disappoint. As time passes, the Premier League may hail the star defender as one of the greats. The Tottenham fans are delighted at the fact that the 25-year-old will be present in their defensive line for a long time.
