Tottenham are putting out all the stops in their pursuit of a former Premier League star who is currently playing for Lazio
Tottenham Hotspur and Ange Postecoglou are now treating January’s transfer window with more urgency. They have accelerated their move for former Premier League star Felipe Anderson. The 30-year-old is currently playing for Serie A side S.S. Lazio, stated Italian publication TV PLAY
In 297 appearances for Lazio, the Brazilian has recorded 54 goals and 62 assists. Some very solid numbers for Anderson. After Extention talks with his current club died down the 30-year-old could now be making his way back to the Premier League.
Despite playing for Lazio, Anderson should have no issues adjusting to Tottenham Hotspur. Before he left to play for Lazio in 2021, the Brazilian midfielder was making waves at West Ham United.
Postecoglou will be missing a lot of his key players in January. Heung-min Son is leaving to join South Korea’s national team as they gear up for the Asian Cup. Additionally, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma will also be leaving to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations.
With James Maddison out due to an injury, Postecoglou is in desperate need of help as he looks to keep his midfield alive. The arrival of Anderson should help the Australian coach to plug the whole as he waits for his team to get back to health.
The Spurs have had an excellent campaign if you factor in the issues that the team has had to face. They will now be aggressively pursuing new talent in January as they look to cover up the cracks left behind by injuries.
