Tottenham Hotspur could lose 27-year-old Spanish defender to Borussia Dortmund.
Amidst talk of Borussia Dortmund being interested in the player, Tottenham are now keeping a close eye on the Sergio Reguilon situation. According to Sky German, the player could soon be on his way to the Bundesliga club.
If his break clause comes into play at Manchester United, the Spanish national could return to the Spurs during January. But, since he will fall down the pecking order at Tottenham, Reguilon could look towards Dortmund to come rescue him from this ordeal.
The 27-year-old is currently playing a crucial role on Ten Hag’s squad. With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia missing from the lineup, Reguilon has been excellent at filling Man United’s defensive gap.
If Dortmund sweeps in and acquires Reguilon it could leave both Man United and Tottenham in a tough spot. The Red Devils will immediately have to find a replacement whereas Postecoglou’s squad will lose depth that they just can’t afford to lose at this point.
However, Reguilon’s career could have a massive boon due to this move. He has constantly been unhappy with his playing time under Postecoglou. Now, a move to Dortmund could mean the Spaniard will get to regularly compete at the highest level.
Postecoglou’s team is currently stretched extremely thin due to ongoing injury issues. With that in mind, Dortmund might just have the door shut in their face if they come knocking.

As of now, nothing can be said for certain. But if the Australian coach gives the go-ahead on Reguilon, it will only be after he has already found a replacement. Postecoglou will not risk losing depth without a plan in mind.
