Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou shows his disappointment after Yves Bissouma will be back in action in February

Speaking to the Apple Podcast, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou expresses his disappointment after his new signing Yves Bissouma was handed a red card marking his four match suspension due to his second red of the season.

The talented player from Mali who excelled at Brighton Hove and Albion in the Premier League was acquired by Spurs for a substantial sum of £35m and is set to compete in the African Cup of Nations and will return to Spurs in February.

This could potentially be a significant concern for the team’s depth, as Postecoglou is already facing a shortage of options. It is quite concerning for the team that Spurs are dominating the league.

It seems that Cristian Romero narrowly escaped a potential one-match ban for the Everton match, despite appearing to be on the verge of receiving a caution for a foul on Cheikhou Kouyate. However, the referee decided to let him off the hook. With four yellow cards already in the Premier League this season, the Argentina international was on the brink of a suspension. Just like Destiny Udogie, one more yellow card would have landed him in hot water.

With time, it is clear that Bissouma is a key man for the upstarts of north London. And he has been just what this Postecoglou team needed in the middle. With a player of his calibre highly sought after, finding an adequate substitute is as difficult task. There remain big holes in Tottenham’s squad for such players.

Dealing with a string of injuries has been a major headache for Postecoglou and Tottenham recently. Now, they are facing another challenge with suspensions becoming a real issue. It is crucial for the midfielder to exercise caution and improve his approach to aggression and tackling moving forward.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham can handle his absence in the upcoming weeks and secure crucial results until the midfielder makes his return to action.
