Tim Howard says Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has a role in Yves Bissouma sending-off against Forest
Former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has expressed his concerns over Yves Bissouma’s recent sending-off against Forest and believes that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has a role to play in the midfielder’s disciplinary issues.
Bissouma’s red card marks his second needless sending off this season, following a previous incident against Luton where he received a yellow card for diving.
Both of the Mali international’s red cards were arguably avoidable. There’s obviously some sort of change required behind the scenes at Hotspur Way in terms of building more discipline.

Tim Howard has told The 2 Robbies that Ange Postecoglou needs to make some changes as soon as possible.
“Certain players need to get it out of their game. Yves Bissouma, there’s no place in the game to go strongly and recklessly into a challenge when the ball’s on the floor – it’s different if the ball’s bouncing – and you go right under the guy’s knee with your studs. It’s uncalled for,”
Howard observes that while Postecoglou encourages his players to press and allows them the freedom to make mistakes, there comes a point where reining in and addressing discipline issues becomes crucial.
The former goalkeeper suggests that managing the team’s overall discipline is essential to prevent long-term repercussions.
Ange’s role extends beyond tactical decisions to instilling a sense of control and responsibility among the players, helping them understand the consequences of indiscipline.

While Postecoglou’s approach of giving players freedom can be positive, there needs to be a balance to ensure that the team maintains discipline, especially in situations where unnecessary cards and red cards can impact the team’s performance and results.
