Rodri considers Son and Maddison to be one of the toughest rivals that he has faced
Manchester City’s Rodri has expressed his admiration towards Tottenham duo Son Heung-min and James Maddison. According to football.london, Rodri revealed four of his toughest opponents with Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham being the other two.
He says,
“I think Bellingham is doing great in Spain. Kane has adapted very well to German football also and in England I would say Maddison and Son as they are doing very good.”
The Manchester City midfielder has backed his claims with numbers and went on to describe how Kane and Bellingham have been ruling their respective domestic leagues.
Rodri is a key figure within the Sky Blues squad. His importance can be further emphasized by reflecting on the three losses faced by Man City during his suspension. In other words, Pep’s men haven’t lost a single game this season in which Rodri featured.
Maddison and Son — Tottenham’s bread and butter
The Lilywhites had a flying start to the campaign and much of the credit goes to James Maddison and Son Heung-min. The duo experienced a new start under their new boss Ange Postecoglou. The club eventually lost James Maddison’s presence due to an ankle injury.
The mantle was then picked up by Dejan Kulusveski, who is doing a fine job at it. The stepping up of Brennan Johnson has aided Ange Postecoglou in more than one way. While the fans are awaiting Maddison’s return, they face further blow after learning about Son’s departure for international duty in January.
The Aussie manager will have to shop for more players this January to tackle such unforeseen events. James Maddison and Micky van de Ven’s injuries have left a huge void within the squad. This has urged the Spurs boss to look out for strong defensive options.
