Tottenham are in the running for the 26-year-old Fulham star who has been pivotal on their journey to the Carabao Cup semi-final
Tottenham are ‘long-term admirers’ of Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo. The 26-year-old centre-back has proven to be a key piece for the team. His timely penalty against Everton helped the Cottagers reach their first-ever EFL Cup semi-final.
The English national’s future at the club is still uncertain though. His contract will run out at the end of the season. Moreover, he has rejected three deals as the negotiations for a new contract have now come to a halt.
Fans and management alike are both happy with his performance. Retaining him for the future can help elevate Fulham to a whole new level. But nothing is certain as Tottenham have now entered the fray.
Here’s what Fulham coach Marko Silva had to say about the player. (h/t The Standard)
Tosin is a special player for us — I can’t hide that situation. The way he can defend the box, and on the ball, he’s a special player. He can build the way I want to play.
If it wasn’t for his timely clearances, Everton would have put the game away in the second half itself. The team is hoping that their newfound success and an increased wage will be enough to incentivize the player into signing a new deal.
However, the Spurs are of the view that having a player like him will help them deal with their centre-back shortage. Signing Adarabioyo will mean that Ben Davies might finally get to go back to playing as a fullback.
Moreover, just thinking about the pair of Adarabioyo and Cristian Romero is a comforting thought. The Spurs will be pulling out all the stops as they pursue the English defender in January.
