Tottenham are planning to bring in £26m-rated Genoa star as they ramp up their defender hunt

According to The Athletic (paid subscription), The Lilywhites are planning to accelerate their pursuit of a centre-back. Tottenham have now turned their eyes towards Radu Dragusin who is currently playing for Serie A side Genoa.

The 21-year-old has garnered interest from several top-class clubs. Manchester United and Newcastle have also been linked with the player. But, The Spurs might pull ahead as they are now trying to accelerate the process.

Postecoglou has been desperately trying to fill in the defensive gap that summer signing Mickey van de Ven has left behind. The 22-year-old has been out for a while as he deals with a hamstring injury.

Radu Dragusin is a top-tier talent. At just 21 he is already one of the best defenders in Italy. Moreover, he was pivotal towards Genoa’s campaign which ultimately led to them being promoted to Serie A.

If he is granted a move to the Premier League the player could end up becoming a world-class defender. The 12-cap Romanian international will surely help Postecoglou plug the hole in his defence.

Dragusin becoming a part of the Tottenham outfit will also help Ben Davies go back to his role of fullback. The 30-year-old defender has recently been playing a central role as The Lilywhites battle with injuries.

If Tottenham are not quick enough Dragusin will put pen to paper and ink a new deal with Genoa, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. A £26m offer might not be enough to acquire the young stud if that ends up happening.

With Dragusin reportedly planning on signing a new deal, time is of the essence. If Tottenham are not fast enough they might have to look for another defender that can alleviate their injury struggles.
