Everton have put on a hefty price tag for their star defender Jarrad Branthwaite
Everton has put a price tag of £100m for Spurs target Jarrad Branthwaite per media outlet inews. Branthwaite has played a crucial part in the Toffees’ survival this season. The price tag on the youngster has earned him a comparison with ‘Rolls Royce’, maybe for the luxury aspect of it.
The hefty price tag is not the only challenge faced by Spurs. The Londoners face competition from fellow Premier League team Manchester United in a race to land Branthwaite. Erik ten Hag is serious about adding more depth to his back four. The price tag would not be a problem for Manchester United as the Red Devils have been splashing cash lately to get whom they want.
The choice will eventually rest with Jarrad Branthwaite should the club be ready to off-load him. Everton faced a massive 10-point deduction for violating the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (“PSRs”).
Everton has managed to keep themselves out of the relegation zone and Jarrad Branthwaite has a huge part to play in it. The Merseysiders would not want to let go of their arguably the strongest player right now but a good price could turn the tide.
How strong is Jarrad Branthwaite’s CV?
Everton did not have much good news this season but Branthwaite’s performance is one of those. He was solid at the back to help Everton maintain four clean sheets in a row. The 21-year-old centre-back also proved his versatility by guarding the left-back position in the EFL quarterfinal clash against Fulham.
Ange Postecoglou has been relying on his fullbacks to fill in Micky van de Ven’s position. Furthermore, Cristian Romero’s recklessness always keeps his coach on his toes. Having someone as reliable as Jarrad Branthwaite could be instrumental for the Lilywhites boss.
