Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky Van de Ven shares optimistic news ahead of Christmas
According to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky Van de Ven shares positive news that he will be returning very soon from injury while he was cheering for his countryman Raymond van Barneveld in the World Darts Championship.
Van de Ven’s absence due to a hamstring issue in early November has been sorely felt by Tottenham. The 22-year-old wasted no time in proving his worth as an indispensable player in Ange Postecoglou‘s starting lineup after his transfer from Wolfsburg during the summer.
Van de Ven said:
“It’s going well – only two more weeks [before I’m back in training].”
In a chaotic match, the 6ft 4in centre-back suffered an unfortunate injury, leaving Tottenham with nine men on the pitch. This incident occurred alongside the loss of James Maddison to an ankle injury, dampening the spirits of Spurs fans who had quickly grown fond of the player.
Bissouma is set to miss four matches due to suspension, while Destiny Udogie will also be unavailable for Saturday’s game against Everton. Udogie received his fifth caution of the season at the City Ground. Postecoglou is facing additional challenges as Van de Ven, James Maddison, and Rodrigo Bentancur will be sidelined until January.
Furthermore, Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon have been out of action since September, further depleting the team’s attacking options.
Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou will continue to prioritise problem-solving over getting frustrated with the club’s increasing number of absent players. Last week, Spurs emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest. However, their triumph was marred by Yves Bissouma receiving his second red card of the season, leaving the team with only 10 players on the pitch.
