Leon Osman believes that this Tottenham Hotspur star ‘got away with it’ after Everton had their goal chalked off
Former Everton star Leon Osman believes Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Emerson Royal was lucky for the team and ‘got away with it’. Royal made the business decision to take what some may describe as a dive.
Everton were on the attack and got a goal back in the 51st minute. However, VAR intervened and the goal was disallowed. The decision was made after the officials determined that Andre Gomes fouled Emerson Royal during the buildup.
Truly lucky for the Lilywhites who were barely able to hold on to their 2-0 lead. Gomes fired back at the team and grabbed a goal in the 82nd minute. A few more attempts were made but the Spurs held out and added 3 points to the board.
Osman who called Emerson lucky sounded a bit bitter while talking to BBC. He believes that the contact was too soft for a foul. But even if that is the case, there is not much that can be done about that anymore.
It was Richarlison and Heung-min Son who scored for Tottenham. But, the real star of the match was Postecoglou’s goalkeeper. Guglielmo Vicario was truly a giant entity on that field, his efforts played no small part in the Spurs’ victory.
The 27-year-old made seven spectacular saves to protect the team’s lead. Pair that with his 73% pass completion rate and you have a proper modern-day goalkeeper (fot.mob). Truly a spectacular performance by the Italian national.

Postecoglou and his men have a very good shot at the Premier League title now. The team has found the rhythm and confidence that they displayed at the start of the season.
Their real challenge will come in January when Heung-min Son departs for international duty. Hopefully, the Lilywhites can keep this up during their captain’s absence.
