Liverpool pull out of the race to sign Andre Trindade giving Tottenham Hotspur a major boost to sign him
According to The Express (h/t Eurosport), Liverpool now exit the race to sign Andre Trindade giving Tottenham Hotspur a very lucrative chance to sign the talented midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.
Several European teams took notice when Fluminense, led by the 22-year-old midfielder, won the Copa Libertadores for the first time in the team’s history. Andre stayed at the Maracana to support their quest for Copa Libertadores success, knowing that he would have the option to depart in January. It seems that Andre’s departure from Fluminense is almost certain, as even the club’s president, Mario Bittencourt, has acknowledged.
However, according to Liverpool Echo, the Brazilian has expressed his dream to play in the competitive Premier League making us one of the best competitors to get his signatures.
Tottenham may see a departure of some of their seasoned players such as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovanni Lo Celso, as Ange Postecoglou will likely seek out suitable replacements.
Despite having a crowded central midfield, Postecoglou’s squad might find it hard to resist the talent of Fluminense’s Andre, making him an enticing prospect for Tottenham.
There is also the matter of acquiring players for the future, and Andre is a perfect fit for that. Postecoglou’s focus seems to be on strengthening the defence with a central defender, rather than prioritising additions to the midfield.
If the reports are to be believed and Andre does end up at Tottenham, he will undoubtedly face a tough challenge to secure a place in the team. Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr have formed an impressive partnership. Even the returning Rodrigo Bentancur, who has been one of Spurs’ standout players in recent years, will need to be patient.
