Tottenham Hotspur looking for alternatives in the midfield positions and Arthur Vermeeren has emerged as a possibility
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign talented Belgian midfielder from Royal Antwerp Arthur Vermeeren in January.
It is expected that the North London team will pay the major part of the £25 million fee right away as well. We believe that by achieving this agreement for the young talent, we will gain an extra advantage over our local rivals such as Arsenal who are also interested in this player.
The departure of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations has created a vacancy in our midfield position, and we urgently need to fill this position with a new player.
In 2024, there is a possibility that Spurs may try and sign Vermeeren. They will be eagerly anticipating his success due to the intense competition for his signature. He is still under contract with Royal Antwerp until 2026. He has already made 65 appearances for them, including featuring in all six of their Champions League group matches this season.
Last season, Royal Antwerp emerged as the champions of the Belgian Pro League. Vermeeren’s senior international debut for Belgium came later in the calendar year.
Vermeeren has already demonstrated his exceptional skills in the UEFA Champions League this season, and there is no doubt that he possesses the talent to excel in English football too. It remains to be seen if Tottenham can secure his signature.
Even though we have some outstanding midfield players, we believe it would be beneficial for us to improve in this position. This is especially significant because there have been rumours that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg might be leaving Spurs shortly.
On the other hand, it is believed that this young Belgian has immense potential, but to become an exceptional player in the future, he will need proper guidance and the right training. Also, in our view, he can be a valuable member of the team and contribute significantly in the future.
