Fabrizio Romano confirms Tottenham star Hugo Lloris transfer to LAFC
Former Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has secured for himself a move to MLS side Los Angeles FC. After passing on the armband to Son Heung-min earlier this season, the French World Cup winner saw himself on the fringes of the first team following the acquisition of Italian shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario.
Appointed as club captain in 2015, he participated in 25 top-flight matches last season. However, during the first half of the current campaign under Ange Postecoglou, he has yet to make an appearance, as Vicario and Fraser Forster are acknowledged as the first and second-choice goalkeepers, respectively.
The 37-year-old leaves Hotspur Way after 11 successful years. With 447 appearances across all competitions, he leaves North London as a certified club legend. There’s absolutely no doubt that the Tottenham faithful will surely miss the player’s presence at the club.
While Lloris bids farewell to Tottenham, his legacy will endure. The impact he had on shaping the club’s identity and his unwavering commitment to the cause has left an unforgettable mark. Lloris’s leadership and contributions, both on and off the pitch, have played a crucial role in defining an era for the Lilywhites.
Au revoir Hugo
As he embarks on a new adventure with Los Angeles FC in the MLS, the Tottenham faithful will reflect on the moments of brilliance, the heart-stopping saves, and the sense of pride that Hugo Lloris brought to the club. Though the trophy cabinet may lack silverware bearing his name, Lloris’s legacy at Tottenham goes much beyond that.
The transfer of Lloris to LAFC opens a new chapter for both, the player and the club. Spurs fans will eagerly watch the progress of Vicario as he takes on the mantle of guarding the goalposts for Tottenham. The Italian goalkeeper has big shoes to fill, but the early signs suggest he is more than up to the task.
