Serie A giants Juventus set their target on the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg
According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato (h/t ESPN), Juventus have reportedly set their sights on acquiring Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Under new coach Ange, Højbjerg has only started in three games for Spurs this season. Additionally, it’s anticipated that both Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma will depart from Tottenham next month due to their involvement in the AFCON.
If Højbjerg moves to Juventus, he would become part of a team currently placed 2nd in Serie A, vying for their first title since 2020. He would face competition from notable players such as Locatelli, Rabiot, and Weston McKennie as he seeks to secure a position within the squad.
Since his move from Southampton to Spurs in 2020, the midfielder has remarkably played in 164 games, representing the North London club across various competitions, scoring 10 goals and assisting 16 more in the process.
However, Hojbjerg has been limited to substitute appearances this season. It’s imperative for him to secure more playing time and regular minutes on the field ahead of Euro 2024. The upcoming transfer window could serve as an opportunity for the team to assess their performance in the absence of these players.
While Hojbjerg lacks prior experience in Serie A, Juventus might present him with the chance to embrace this new challenge, pending their ability to secure the required funds.
There is still uncertainty regarding whether Tottenham Hotspur would consider allowing Hojbjerg to leave the club in the midst of the campaign. Speculation circulated earlier about the 28-year-old’s potential departure during the summer transfer window, with the team open to considering offers.

Interested parties might present offers that could persuade Tottenham’s decision-makers to consider selling Hojbjerg midway through the schedule. Given Hojbjerg’s significant role and impact at Spurs, there might be a need to evaluate such offers. However, there is still speculation that he might depart before the summer transfer window.
