When Tottenham expect their injured stars to return amidst squad depth crisis
Ange Postecoglou has had to deal with a depleted Tottenham roster for almost the entire season up till now. This has caused no shortage of trouble for the Greek-Australian coach who has his eyes set on a Premier League title.
He has at times had to play Ben Davies and Emerson Royal at centre-back because his primary options Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have both missed the majority of the season due to injuries. Evening Standard has offered an update on the situation.
Another star that has long been missing from the lineup is the Lilywhites’ primary playmaker James Maddison. If he was available for all of the team’s games this season they might have ended 2023 atop the Premier League table. Before his injury, he recorded three goals and six assists for the team this season(Transfermarkt).
The team has finally received some positive news regarding the injury situation. Micky van de Ven who has been missing from the roster since November could soon be making a comeback. Postecoglou believes he could be back to face Manchester United on the 14th of January.
James Maddison will follow behind the Dutch centre-back as the next player to return. On the other hand, Cristian Romero could be sidelined for an additional 4-5 weeks following his latest injury.
However, the Lilywhites have been relentlessly pursuing backup defenders to help the team gain more depth. It has been reported that a deal involving Radu Dragusin is going pretty smoothly and the 21-year-old could soon be at Tottenham.
