Tottenham Hotspur fans will not be pleased by Connor Gallagher update given by Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea and Tottenham are currently not holding any discussions for Connor Gallagher. This will come as a shock for the Lilywhites’ fans who were hoping to see the player join their team in the future.
According to Romano, Mauricio Pochettino holds the 23-year-old in very high regard. He also believes that Gallagher is important for the future of the team. All this information makes a Gallagher transfer to Tottenham sound next to impossible.
Chelsea’s season is already in shambles as the team currently sits at 10th on the Premier League table. If they let go of Connor Gallagher the situation can become even worse. This is not a risk that Mauricio Pochettino can take at the moment.
No one can question the English midfielder’s prowess on the field. He is the glue that holds the Blues’ entire middle line together. It looks like Postecoglou will have to look somewhere else as he tries to add more depth to his roster.
Fans shouldn’t be too sad about missing out on Gallagher. The Spurs’ own star midfielder will soon be back from injury. It is not a stretch to say that anything the Chelsea star does, James Maddison can do better. The 27-year-old has been missing from the squad since November due to an ankle injury.
He is expected to return to the squad sometime around their game with Manchester United. With the match set to take place on the 14th of January, it looks like the English midfielder will make the final lineup.
