Ornstein doesn’t believe that Tottenham will be going after an ex-Barcelona defender this January
Tottenham Hotspur have been on the trail of ex-Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo for quite some time, but David Ornstein said on Rio Ferdinand Presents Five via Youtube that he doesn’t ‘expect’ the Lilywhites to get a deal done this January.
People all around the world have been waiting for Tottenham to announce their first signing of this transfer window. The team knows that time is of the essence and they have been wasting no time in their pursuit of talent.
The Lilywhites have been extremely active with their internal affairs as well. Following an extension for Destiny Udogie the team has already locked down Pape Matar Sarr to a long-term deal lasting till 2030.
This urgency that the Spurs have shown is also part of the reason behind them not choosing to pursue Todibo. OGC Nice has been stalling for time and that is one thing that Tottenham cannot afford to waste right now.
Both of Postecoglou’s primary centre-backs, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are currently out due to injury. The Spurs are hoping to bring in a replacement at that position by the end of the week.
One candidate who could arrive at the promised time is Genoa’s Radu Dragusin. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Romanian defender has already agreed to personal terms regarding a transfer to Tottenham.

It is becoming more and more likely that Todibo will never wear a Tottenham shirt during his career. While it stings to miss out on such a talent fans might soon be getting a gift in the form of Genoa man Radu Dragusin.
