Banned Fabio Paratici to assist Tottenham in the January transfer window
Fabio Paratici remains set to continue his advisory role at Tottenham Hotspur during the upcoming January transfer window. Despite the recent appointments of Scott Munn as chief football officer and Johan Lange as sporting director, Paratici’s wealth of experience remains a valuable asset for Spurs as they navigate the mid-season transfer market.
Paratici, formerly the managing director of football, stepped into the shadows last April after seeing himself implicated in alleged false accounting during his tenure at Juventus.
Despite facing a ban from active football involvement, he found a way to contribute to Tottenham’s transfer activities on a consultancy basis. This collaboration persisted through the summer transfer window, bridging the gap until Munn and Lange assumed their roles.
January signings!
The manager has outlined his desires for the January transfer window, identifying key positions that require reinforcement. A new centre-back, a winger, and a midfielder are on Ange Postecoglou‘s wish list. Centre-backs to replace the impending departures of Eric Dier and Ben Davies.
Son Heung-min’s absence as he will travel for national duties in the Asian Cup will see Spurs dive into the market for a winger as well. The injury-prone nature of our current midfielders makes the addition of a midfielder over the January window important as well.
Concurrently, Tottenham are also exploring options to offload certain players, streamlining the squad for a more focused and competitive setup. That is where Paratici comes in. Despite his formal resignation and subsequent ban, the Italian football executive has remained a guiding force behind the scenes at Tottenham, playing a crucial role in our recruitment of Destiny Udogie.
It’s important to note that Paratici’s involvement does not undermine Munn’s position at the club. The chief football officer and the experienced Italian collaboratively contribute to Tottenham’s transfer strategy, working in tandem to achieve the club’s objectives. Paratici liaises closely with Johan Lange, the sporting director, ensuring a seamless integration of insights and perspectives in the pursuit of transfer targets and managing outgoing player business.
