Chelsea have raised the price on Conor Gallagher amidst interest from Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have long been eyeing a move for Chelsea’s Connor Gallagher. The 23-year-old has been in fine form this season and has even served as team skipper. His contract is set to expire in the summer and suitors are already lining up.
£50m was the figure that was quoted to the Spurs for Gallagher last summer. However, in what could be a major blow to Tottenham, the price has now been upped to £60m, as reported by Express. Although it is largely believed that Chelsea will listen to offers in the range of £50m as well.
His future with the Blues could soon come to an end as both sides are yet to reach an agreement on a new contract. Pochetinno hopes to retain the player, but we doubt it’ll play out that way.
A deal will likely not be made this January as Tottenham will be reluctant to dole out £60m for the player. It has also been reported that Gallagher is happy at the club and would like to stay at Stamford Bridge. However, that should be treated as just talk until an extension is agreed upon.
The 23-year-old has quickly risen to be a solid midfield option for any team. In 24 appearances this season the English national has recorded four assists for the team (Transfermarkt). He has been the glue that has held Chelsea’s midfield together this campaign.
It has also been reported that Newcastle United and West Ham are also eyeing a move for Connor. Selling the player would result in straight profit for the Blues who have had be wary of the financial fairplay regulations.
