Spurs star Ryan Sessegnon on Manchester United transfer radar
In a rather surprising bit of transfer news, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag wants Tottenham left-back Ryan Sessegnon at Old Trafford. The 23-year-old recently returned to action, in the 1-0 win over Burnley in the FA Cup.
Sess has had his fair share of injury issues and has not been able to cement a place for himself in the starting XI despite his ability to put in a shift almost anywhere down the left flank. Predominantly featuring as a left-midfielder for the Lilwhites, he has played as a left-back and has led either flanks on separate occasions.
Under the stewardship of new part-owners in Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, the Red Devils remained poised to make a few bold moves this January transfer window, which includes the temporary shipping-off of Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund.
To balance out the skew that allowing Sancho to exit would leave behind, Ten Hag eyes a move for Sessegnon. That is as per the Mirror. The Roehampton-born man is not new to featuring on the wings and by the looks of it, that is where he would play in case he moves to Manchester.
Sess to the Red Devils?
However, Tottenham would benefit decently if we retain his services. The only factor that has restricted his game-time at the N17 is the fact that he is extremely injury-prone and has very less to do with his performances.
Even if it was his performances, Sess is only 23 and has so much earthed potential in him. Under an attack-minded manager like Ange Postecoglou, Sessgnon is likely to benefit greatly and enjoy a decent run of games, hopefully, securing for himself a spot in the starting XI.
Agreed, he might have greater competition for places here, but the style of football at Tottenham suits him and he would be wise if he opted to stay put. His deal at the Lilywhites expires in 2025 (Transfermarkt).

Moreover, the idea of selling a talented young player to direct league rivals does not sound like a smart idea. Daft, to say the least.
