Plethora of jersey numbers Timo Warner can choose from when he joins Tottenham Hotspur
According to Football.London, when Timo Werner arrives at Tottenham Hotspur, he will have a wide range of shirt numbers to consider from.
It is rumoured that Tottenham have also secured an option to potentially make Werner’s stay permanent. The 27-year-old is determined to prove himself in the English top flight after a somewhat inconsistent period at Stamford Bridge.
The former Chelsea player will offer Ange Postecoglou a flexible attacking choice while Son Heung-min, who is representing in the Asian Cup, and Alejo Veliz, who is out for a few months due to a knee injury, are unavailable.
Since his debut season with RB Leipzig in 2016-17, Werner has consistently worn the number 11 jersey. He continued to don the same shirt during his time at Chelsea and even during his brief stint in the Stuttgart youth setup.
Although Werner has occasionally worn the number ’11’ for Germany, he is typically associated with the number ‘9’ when playing for Die Mannschaft. However, it appears that the number ‘9’ is currently unavailable due to Richarlison’s impressive performances as a forward for Tottenham.
In terms of available numbers, Tottenham is now without a number two or number six owing to the recent departures of Matt Doherty and Davinson Sanchez. However, any of those jerseys would be an unusual choice for an attacking player to wear. They are currently without a number two. On the other hand, the number 16 is a possibility.
Technically speaking, given that Postecoglou has said that he feels Ivan Perisic has played his final game for Spurs, the Croatian player might offer Werner his number 14 jersey. Additionally, given that Eric Dier has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, his number 15 shirt may become available if Dier’s departure is accelerated.

Occasionally, athletes will choose to duplicate their desired number if it is not available; however, in the case of Werner, the number 22 has already been committed to Brennan Johnson. 26 is the next accessible number, however, it is considered to be somewhat semi-retired because Ledley King has ceased wearing it. Following that are the numbers 31, 32, 34, and 39, as well as a variety of numbers above that. Let’s see what Werner decides.
