Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou provides fitness update after Burnley win
Apart from Eric Dier, there are no major injury issues that Spurs have to face now as per Ange Postecoglou. The long-term absentees include Cristian Romero, Ivan Perisic, James Maddison, Manor Solomon and Alejo Veliz.
Thankfully, we did not have any huge injuries that popped up after our win against the Clarets. Manager Ange Postecoglou provided an injury update via football.london and confirmed that Eric Dier was not a part of the squad due to his injury, and not his links with Bayern Munich.
Micky van de Ven was part of the matchday squad for the first time after our 4-1 loss to Chelsea back in December. Ange said Spurs planned to introduce him into the game but the situation with the Lilywhites trailing meant we had to make an attacking substitution.
Ryan Sessegnon featured after what felt like an eternity. He played towards the end of the game and had a close attempt on goal. Would’ve been poetic to see him score on his return, but it is what it is.
Squad update
Ben Davies did his hamstring apparently, and Giovani Lo Celso felt a bit of tightness as the game progressed. With Tottenham playing Manchester United away from home next week, we would need a full-strength side.
Assuming Davies will need a bit of recovery time, we will have Micky replace him in the XI and considering Emerson Royal’s form as a centre-back, it certainly won’t come as a shocker if he continues to retain his place in the starting XI.
Having said that, it is imperative that the Lilywhites surely approach the January window with a proactive approach and ensure that we have enough depth to ensure the best possible finish in the league.
