Leeds United trigger the ‘recall clause’ of Tottenham right-back Djed Spence
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has let go of Tottenham right-back Djed Spence as The Whites have triggered the ‘recall clause’ for the player, allowing the Elland Road outfit to send him back to London.
He spent the first half of this season on loan at Yorkshire and featured in only seven games because of an ankle injury in training. But now, since Spence is back at the N17, Spurs plan to send him on another loan spell as per Fabrizio Romano via Twitter.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais, making 10 appearances for them across all competitions before signing for Leeds. The player has only made six appearances across all competitions for the Lilywhites.
As per Romano, the immediate plan for Tottenham when it comes to the player is sending him on loan once again, and he remains expected to leave in the next few days.
The specific destination for his next loan spell remains undisclosed, but it underlines Spurs’ commitment to providing Spence with consistent playing time to aid in his overall development.
He comes off as a player who has a bit of disciplinary issues, evident from his spell at Middlesborough but in terms of footballing ability, he is a very talented player with a natural instinct to carry the ball deep into attacking zones.
The upcoming loan stint for Djed Spence offers him the chance to continue his football education, gaining exposure to different football philosophies and elevating his overall skill set. As Tottenham look to mould a squad for the future, the development of promising talents like Spence remains a key component of the club’s long-term vision.
