Manchester City keen to re-sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro

In an intriguing turn of events, Manchester City are contemplating the return of right-back Pedro Porro, who is currently shining at Tottenham Hotspur.

Porro, a product of City’s past investments, left the club for Sporting Lisbon in 2022. He then moved to Tottenham last January. His impressive performances in the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou’s guidance have not gone unnoticed.

Despite having cemented his place in Tottenham’s lineup and being under contract until 2028, Porro has emerged as a potential long-term replacement for Kyle Walker at Manchester City. When Pep Guardiola wants to sign someone, he generally ensures it happens.

The 24-year-old Spanish international has been pivotal this season, contributing seven assists in 19 Premier League matches. Additionally, his spectacular goal in the recent FA Cup victory against Burnley highlighted his growing reputation.

Though Porro appears content at Spurs, Spanish publication Fichajes indicate that Manchester City sees a second chance for the full-back under Pep Guardiola’s direction. This interest from City, however, is not without competition.

Football powerhouses like Real Madrid and Barcelona have also shown interest in the right-back, signaling a potentially intense battle for his signature. The latter might find it difficult to compete due to their financial issues though.

At Manchester City, Kyle Walker, 33, has been a key figure but was previously linked with a move to Bayern Munich before renewing his contract until 2026. Porro’s potential return to Etihad Stadium could provide a long-term solution in this position.

In addition to Walker, Rico Lewis, a 19-year-old academy prospect, is also an option for Guardiola. However, Porro’s proven experience in the Premier League makes him an appealing option.
