Tottenham are looking to get a deal done for 23-year-old Premier League captain
As reported by MailPlus [subscription required], Tottenham are now targeting 23-year-old Morgan Gibbs-White. The English midfielder has even served as captain for Nottingham Forest. Spurs have previously done business with Forest for the signing of Brennan Johnson.
Ange Postecoglou and his Lilywhites have been very active in January. It was clear ahead of the transfer window that the team would need to add some depth to the squad. Team selection has been a big issue for the Spurs who have been dealing with multiple injury issues.
They are closing in on the signing Timo Werner. A deal for Romanian defender Radu Dragusin is imminent as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The team will now be turning their gaze towards Morgan Gibbs-White.
Tottenham will be pursuing the player during the summer as they look to pair him up with their star midfielder and primary playmaker James Maddison. Maddison has seemingly been impressed with Gibbs-White’s performance with the U-21 England team.
He has been impressive for Nottingham this season and has recorded three goals and three assists for the team through 22 appearances. The 23-year-old is an amazing talent and can grow to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
Postecoglou who has been pursuing young talent will definitely look to get a deal done in the summer. Nottingham Forest paid £42.5m to sign Gibbs in 2022. Tottenham will most likely have to pay a sum bigger than that to sign the English midfielder.
