Manchester United could go all-out to land Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo this January as Tottenham look elsewhere
Tottenham Hotspur’s lack of progress in signing Jean-Clair Todibo might give Manchester United an edge as per the UK media outlet The Daily Express. Ange Postecoglou was desperately looking for a solid centre-back after Micky van de Ven’s injury and Cristian Romero’s indiscipline.
However, the saga didn’t quite progress as it was expected. Todibo is being phenomenal for Nice. The Ligue 1 outfit has conceded only nine goals so far and the 24-year-old’s contribution in achieving the feat has been massive.
Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano had tweeted about the club’s efforts to bring the Frenchman to North London. Manchester United is now all set to capitalize on this. Erik ten Hag is in dire need of some defensive reinforcements this transfer window.
Nice will block out any potential offers for their starman for obvious reasons. This doesn’t stop the Red Devils from chasing their target. The Old Trafford residents might have to take a different route to try and land Jean-Clair Todibo at Manchester.
ten Hag might need Jim Ratcliffe’s help to sign Todibo
British multinational conglomerate Ineos Group Limited owns 25% stakes in Manchester United. The same group owns the Ligue 1 team Nice. The CEO of Ineos Group Limited, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, might pull some strings to bring Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice to Manchester United.
Even though Todibo is crucial for Nice’s success this season, it is evident that his strength could be put to better use in England. Ligue 1 is slowly losing its charm and Todibo’s potential cannot diminish with it. Jim Ratcliffe has been a Manchester United supporter all his life and it won’t be a surprise if he favours his favourite club over Nice.

Chelsea and AC Milan also have expressed their interest in the 24-year-old France defender. United might have to act fast to not end up like Tottenham Hotspur. On the other hand, Erik ten Hag should also widen his options, should the Todibo pursuit fall apart.
