Tottenham will attempt to off-load young winger Bryan Gil before the end of the winter transfer window
Bryan Gil is not a known figure within the ranks of Tottenham Hotspur due to his scattered appearances over the years for the club. The left winger has spent most of his time away from London as a loanee and this transfer window has nothing different for him according to Spanish media outlet Fichajes.
The 22-year-old has accumulated only 207 minutes so far this season under Ange Postecoglou. The Spaniard has failed to create an impact, at least on the scoresheet. His stint at the Premier League has been haunted by injury and lack of consistency.
Serie A club Fiorentina has expressed a strong desire to sign the young winger, per Spanish news outlet AS. All things considered, it will be a fair move for both parties to part ways. Son Heung-min’s absence due to national team commitments should have opened up an opportunity for Bryan Gil.
However, Spurs signing Timo Werner has pushed Gil further down the pecking order. Gil, who has found it difficult to adapt to the English style of play, could find his footing and a possible permanent home in Italy.
Bryan Gil’s bitter love affair with Tottenham
Gil arrived at Tottenham from Sevilla ahead of the 2021-22 season in a fee part-exchange deal that saw Erik Lamela move the other way. His debut season was immediately marred by a thigh injury in October and COVID-19 two months later.
The winger struggled to fit in upon recovery and was loaned out back to La Liga with Valencia. His second spell at Tottenham was under Antonio Conte who gave him regular playing minutes even though as a substitute.
However, the Spaniard was once again sent to La Liga as a loanee, this time to his parent club Sevilla. His fate did not change under Ange Postecoglou as well, as the Aussie manager brought Timo Werner rather than grooming Bryan Gil.

Despite the unimpressive club stints, Bryan Gil had the backing of his national team head coach Luis de la Fuente. The Spain manager recalled Gil to the senior team in March 2023. His current situation, however, is a big question mark. Perhaps a move away from London might turn around his fortune.
