Tottenham Hotspur can benefit from Marcus Edwards joining West Ham United
According to The Sun, West Ham United are looking to sign former Tottenham Hotspur winger Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon to help them bolster the team’s attack. Another reason why they might go after the player is because West Ham are already in the midst of an injury crisis.
The upcoming week will see the disruption of their winter break as they prepare themselves to play Bristol City in an FA Cup third-round replay.
From the moment he switched to Sporting, Edwards’ career went sky-high. 41 goals and 36 assists in Portugal, made by the 25-year-old player is indeed an impressive feat.
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham has a buy-back option enabling them to pay £34 million for Edwards. This amount represents 65 per cent of the £52 million release clause that Edwards has at Sporting Lisbon.
Because injuries and bans are taking their toll on the team, Spurs may explore the possibility of adding players to their roster during the January transfer window.
After scoring a goal against Tottenham in October 2022, Edwards stated that he had matured since he initially left Spurs for Vitoria de Guimaraes. He made this statement after scoring the goal.
The Hammers are officially in a state of panic because they have been thrown a kink in the works by the absence of the great offensive pair that David Moyes has had in place. Because Michail Antonio is still out with an injury and Danny Ings is unable to kick a football, not to mention the fact that there is a persistent problem in the defence, they should be worried.

On the other hand, Edwards from Sporting CP might fix a lot of the offensive difficulties at London Stadium. He would represent a character comparable to Bowen on the flank in that he would be quick, skilled, and a danger to score goals.
