Tottenham Hotspur bound Radu Dragusin wants to join Real Madrid or FC Barcelona in the future as stated by his agent
According to The Standard, the agent of Tottenham Hotspur’s new defender, Radu Dragusin, suggests that the 21-year-old might be eyeing a potential move to Spanish giants Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future.
Spurs successfully secured a £25.8 million deal for Dragusin, overcoming stiff competition from Bayern Munich. The acquisition of the highly sought-after central defender was eagerly pursued by Ange Postecoglou
His agent said:
“We were close, Bayern are among the biggest clubs, but his dream is Real or Barcelona. If he was 23 or 24 years old and had more experience, maybe he would have decided to go to Bayern, but we took many things into account; his age and the competition.”
Manea has been openly discussing Dragusin’s potential throughout the ongoing transfer saga and recently emphasised that playing in the Premier League is his ultimate aspiration – although he may not intend to stay for an extended period.
There is a possibility of Dragusin making his debut this weekend, pending the completion of a medical examination before signing a contract potentially running until 2029. Despite this, his agent, Florin Manea, expresses optimism regarding his client’s potential to utilize Tottenham as a stepping stone for a future transfer to esteemed Spanish clubs such as Real Madrid or Barcelona.
In a surprising twist, Bayern Munich attempted to disrupt Spurs’ pursuit of Dragusin. However, the talented Romania international remained committed to his agreement and honoured his commitment to join the Premier League club.
The 21-year-old Dragusin will become Tottenham’s second signing this month after the acquisition of Timo Werner, a former Chelsea striker. Additionally, Spurs’ Djed Spence, who has been excluded from the team, is set to move on loan to Genoa for the rest of the season.
Tottenham are a team on the rise and will need to start adding trophies to their cabinet soon. At the end of the day, there is little reason for players to stick around if they are not competing for the major honours in North London.
We experienced the same with Harry Kane last summer. Hopefully, we will give Dragusin and Co enough reasons to convince them that their long-term future lies at the N-17.
