Eric Dier sends a very emotional farewell to the Tottenham fans
Eric Dier has shared a heartfelt goodbye message with Tottenham fans following his transfer to Bayern Munich. A loan deal until the end of the season was finalised on Thursday evening for the 29-year-old, who has joined the Bundesliga champions. There is also an option for the move to become permanent.
Just a day after the Tottenham defender arrived in Germany for his medical with Thomas Tuchel’s side, the announcement was made.
After he was confirmed to have gone, Dier took some time off to address the fans of Spurs thanking them for their support despite everything and highlighting how well-connected he has grown with the club.
Dier said:
“How do I even start this? Yeah. It’s been an incredible journey. Obviously, when I arrived, you never imagine a situation like this, especially in football. Nine, nine and a half years in football terms is kind of like dog years, you know.
He also stated:
However, his relocation to Germany signifies the conclusion of Dier’s wonderful nine-and-a-half-year spell at Tottenham in north London. The English player posted a heartfelt video message on Thursday evening and is now using various social media platforms to give his fans an honourable goodbye.
“I miss the dressing room from the beginning and I’ll miss this dressing room now. I’ve been on this journey with people that have been at the club longer than me. The people are what makes anything, and the football club’s no different. So the way I’ve built relationships with them and the way they’ve looked after me and during all my time there. Obviously leaving the training ground for maybe the last time, you sort of leave and then it hits you that you’re not going to be going back so that’s a crazy thought”
Dier, who had limited playing time under Ange Postecoglou this season, has now been reunited with his former Spurs team-mate Harry Kane in Munich. Kane made a high-profile move to Bayern during the summer transfer window.
It marks the conclusion of Dier’s tenure in north London, which lasted nearly ten years following his transfer from Sporting Lisbon in 2024 for a fee of £4 million.
Spurs have brought in Genoa central defender Radu Dragusin as a replacement for Dier. Dragusin recently joined the club.
