Radu Dragusin makes Tottenham debut as his brother watches emotionally
21-year-old Romanian centre-back Radu Dragusin made his debut for Tottenham against Manchester United. The player joined the Lilywhites over the January transfer window and was our first signing in the winter window.
His performances at Genoa surely did not go unnoticed, and here we are; Radu is now a Tottenham player. He came off the bench in the 85th minute for Oliver Skipp and put in a shift good enough to see the match out without any more casualties.
The player is massively talented and will give Micky van de Ven and Cuti Romero much-needed competition for a place in the starting XI. His debut would have surely given him a lot of confidence. His brother, watching along on TV cut an emotional figure as he saw Radu take the field. Here is the video posted by the club on Twitter:
Dragusin has penned a contract at Hotspur Way until 2030 (Transfermarkt) and his acquisition surely goes parallel with the club’s ethos of building a core of strong young players who can perform now, and in the future as well.
His style of play is complementary to that of Cuti Romero. Dragusin does not like to indulge in duels as he waits for attackers to make a move and then takes charge. He is good at building out from the back and is an ABSOLUTE BEAST in the air as well.
Think Virgil van Dijk-esque, but not the finished product. He is still miles away from the defender VVD is, but if Radu delivers to his true potential, he can get as close as possible to the Dutch maestro.
