Journalist Dean Jones says Conor Gallagher should be handed a contract at Chelsea
According to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones expects Chelsea to extend Conor Gallagher‘s contract which might cause problems for Tottenham Hotspur in signing the talented midfielder.
Spurs squandered no time in the winter window by swiftly acquiring Timo Werner to bolster their attacking options, as Heung-min Son headed to the Asia Cup representing Japan.
Dean Jones said:
“He still believes that he should be getting a new contract there. He is still in the plans for this season. Tottenham need that desire to come from the player because you don’t want to be chasing someone who absolutely doesn’t want a transfer to happen. So I think the fact that there is going to be at least two weeks now for Tottenham to focus on it and to just get a good feel of the Conor Gallagher situation puts them in a really good position.”
As reported, Gallagher believes he is worth a new contract at Chelsea. The player who plays in the position of a midfielder represents England in the international arena and will be out of contract at the end of the season.
It seems that the North London team is progressing in securing the services of Genoa defender Radu Dragusin. Postecoglou and his recruitment team are actively working on strengthening both their defence and attack in the early part of January.
Spurs have been quite active during the early stages of the winter transfer window. They wasted no time and secured the services of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner on a loan deal, with the option to make the move permanent for £15 million.
The report shows that the England international is likely to stay with Chelsea. He has also risen to become a crucial member of the Tottenham team since Pochettino left, playing 25 times this season.
Ange Postecoglou wants a midfield destroyer able to support James Maddison in terms of offensive play, if necessary. Gallagher is the best-fitted player for this job and Chelsea are willing to sign a deal if it costs them less.

Now it’s time to focus on strengthening their midfield. Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr have joined their national teams for the African Cup of Nations, leaving Postecoglou with a shortage in the midfield.
