Urbano Cairo makes it clear that Tottenham target Alessandro Buongiorno will not leave Torino
Torino president Urbano Cairo says Tottenham target Alessandro Buongiorno is not for sale, per Fabrizio Romano’s tweet. The president told Italian media outlet Tuttosport that, “He (Buongiorno) will stay at Torino, he also wants to stay here. I’m not selling Buongiorno now.
Another Italian media Metropolitan Magazine reveals that the 24-year-old is a hot property for many clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur. It further states that West Ham, Chelsea and Aston Villa are pursuing Alessandro Buongiorno apart from a couple of Serie A teams.
The Italian centre-back is a regular figure in the Torino starting XI. He has played 19 games across all competitions so far. The Turin-born stopper has never left his home club, except for a short loan stint at Carpi.
He recently earned a call-up to the national side and featured for Italy in their UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers. This has skyrocketed the star’s value and status in the transfer market.
Tottenham needs to slow down
Even though the North Londoners aren’t actively chasing Alessandro Buongiorno, they really are in no need of a defender at the moment. Understandably, Ange Postecoglou does not want to fall short of options as he lately did.
However, he now has his defence up and running. Ange’s star man Micky van de Ven is back to complete fitness and then there is Cristian Romero playing by the books. Radu Dragusin’s addition to the ranks has further fortified The Lilywhites defensive unit.
All facts considered, the Spurs boss can be relaxed about his defensive options and maybe gun for a midfielder. James Maddison’s absence has left a void for him to fill.
